Tay Township is on its way with downtown revitalization efforts to build more vibrant downtowns to reflect the small quaint atmosphere already found in our neighbourhoods.

We are receiving positive responses to our initiatives such as the downtown planters and decorative street lights and the parkettes with their gardens and gazebos.

We also offer a Community Improvement Plan Program whereby the increased taxes on improvements to properties in our downtown can be phased in by 20% each year for five years.  Also, the Township offers a façade improvement grant program for our downtown properties.  More initiatives to take

advantage of our communities being located on the waterfront of Georgian Bay, the worlds greatest boating, is in our future. Intrigued?  It is an exciting time for all of us here and we want everyone to be a part of it.

Did you know that the community of Victoria Harbour has a population of 2900 persons in 2006 and that this figure is probably over 3100 persons today.  The population of Port McNicoll, census is 2300 persons and growing.  Both of these communities are twice the size of Creemore which has a population of 1300 and is the same size as Waubaushene having a population of 1364 persons.  Waverley is at the cross roads of Highway 93 and 27 having the potential capture rate of some 3800 vehicles per day on Highway 27 and 7800 vehicles per day on Highway 93.  There is a market and a future in our growing communities.

We are focusing our attention on attracting small businesses that fit into our vision.  We are working toward creating communities where you can arrive by our fabulous Tay Shore Trail or by boat for lunch on one of our outdoor patios and stroll through our shops on our tree lined streets.  Come and help us make our vision a reality.

We are working toward installing community amenity signage on Highway 12 to take advantage of the some 12,000 vehicles that travel along that stretch of Highway 12 per day.  We are also adding way finding signage to help our visitors find the fabulous amenities our communities offer, so they will stop and stay a while and patronize our stores, restaurants and services.
